How Does Kybella® Work?
Your Kybella® journey begins with a personalized consultation at our San Diego medical spa, where our expert providers will assess the area and discuss your goals. During each treatment session, a series of small injections are administered under the chin, targeting and breaking down stubborn fat cells. The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and while the area will go through a healing process, most patients find it manageable and return to normal activities within a few days.
Typically, two to six sessions are recommended, spaced at least one month apart, to achieve optimal results. FAQ
Treatment can only be administered by one of our KYBELLA®-trained providers. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your provider will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments
After KYBELLA® treatment, you will likely have some swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin for about 1-2 weeks, and you will start noticing your results within the following 2 weeks.
– Nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness)
– Trouble swallowing
– Injection site problems, including a collection of blood under the skin (hematoma) or bruising, damage to an artery or vein if KYBELLA® is inadvertently injected into it, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site, infection.
The most common side effects of KYBELLA® include swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
