Botox For Excessive Sweating
Underarms
BOTOX® is FDA approved as a treatment for severe underarm sweating, when medicines used on the skin do not work well enough. BOTOX® neurotoxin is injected into the affected areas to help control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands.
Here at B Medical Spa, a member of our staff will test the sweat glands in your underarm to determine which glands are overactive. Next, a small amount of BOTOX® is injected into these overactive sweat glands in a quick, 10-15 minute
procedure using a very fine needle. You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment, and the reduced sweating lasts up to 201 days or 6.7 months.
Palms
A very small needle is used to inject small drops of BOTOX® Cosmetic into the palmar skin of the hand in approximately 30 places. The procedure takes only a few minutes in the office and required no anesthesia. Heavy physical exercise should be avoided for several hours, but patients may engage in any normal activity. Your palmar sweating will decrease within 48 hours and the full effect will be seen in about 1 to 2 weeks. Most patients will obtain 6 to 10 months of dryness after treatment.
